At this point the update is a few years old and others have received it on their devices, so I can only assume that either my local branch of Spectrum is really obnoxiously ignorant or that my modem is defective in some way that is preventing it from pulling firmware ... Yeah, the provider selects the firmware image it wants for each type of modem allowed to connect, then when the modem connects to the CMTS, the CMTS pushes the proper firmware over. This can upgrade or downgrade the current firmware on the modem.I believe this is an old router from frontier? This model of arris will be dictate that the service provider must distribute firmware updates to cable modem ....
