And before it quit when it was idling the rpm's would slightly bounce up and down. Just finished installing a new fuel pressure regulator and it fired right up, idling smooth like it was new. Mine just rolled 200k as a work rig.Let it sit for 2 hours and got back in it. It started and ran long enough to get it into reverse and then died. Put it back in park and tried to restart and it just spins and spins and won’t fire. Has a full tank of fuel, reprimed the filter and line to make sure it didn’t loose prime. Engine must spin to 140 RPM before it will fire. If those are the original batteries, I would be suprised if they are up to the task. Hey John, FYI I found out the injectors NEED minimum 1500 PSI of rail pressure to open, at least the LML with piezo injectors do, and I'd bet the older ones do too. I've got plenty of tips and suggestions for making it as easy as possible. Bought a one month subscription to Mitchell. Their spec indicates a minimum fuel rail pressure of 1450 psi @ cranking speed. Mine actually barely started today with a rail pressure of 1228 psi cranking @ approx 150 RPM. Engine idling rail pressure is 4K to 5K @ temp (180F) with a fuel temp of less than 135F. Did a balance rate test (in neutral ...Filter heads are very common issue. But agree with chevytech77. Would probably try to find out if the issue is sensitive to fuel level. Checked all High pressure & return lines and no leaks. Primed system several times and still no start. If no signal to the BCM, check the pink wire on connector X1 at the BCM, pin 2, and the white wire connector X1 at the BCM pin 4. With the key in start position, both of these should have voltage. Try installing the original FPR back in. Inspect the fuel lines to/from the CP4 and make sure they are not dry rotted/cracked or kinked in any way. Inspect all fuses.Quncy, Fl. Sep 28, 2010. #3. A bad injector that white smokes will not show up on the balance rates. One way to rule it out would be to use the DVT and control pressure. Ramp it up 1 kpa at a time until it goes away.
