2024 Project zomboid barricade windows

I can't barricade any windows. Over time, it does seem to fix itself. I do have the nails, a hammer, and 3 planks to barricade my windows. I can't barricade any doors either. I've never tried when this happens with metal sheets, but I assume it is the same for them too. Does anyone have a fix or a reason why this might be happening? However - it makes NO sense to me that a zombie can thump his rotting head and hands into metal fucking bars that I welded to the window frame and break them down. No number of zombies should be able to break that..
